Opening of the new museum exhibition

Events

The new permanent exhibition at the Byzantine Museum of Kastoria is developed in two different thematic units, that both of them can be seen separately. The fist exhibition unit occupies the three halls around the museum atrium, while the second unit –which is more informative- occupies the corridors between the central atrium and the exhibition halls.

The new exhibition narration is based on current museological and museographic practices and is supported by various interpretive media, such as video projections and interactive contour plan. The exhibition material includes coins, jewelry and religious panel icons. All this material gives us useful information for socioeconomic issues, artistic style and the expression of Orthodox Christian doctrine through the panel icons.
